What is this?

Sorry if you can't see what is in the red circle. It's actually $42.80 for a foreigner membership fee for the National Library of Singapore.

If you can see the black circles, they indicate NIL for both PRs and Singaporeans.

It was not like that one year before. Foreigners just need to pay $20 plus for a basic membership.

What is this? It affects all of us in 4 ways:

  1. The Singaporeans and PRs are happy and look at it as a welfare from the government because their memberships are free for life time.
  2. This makes the non-PRs, like me, wants to become PR more and more.
  3. It's a smart way for the NLB to 'divert' their cost; instead of just asking everyone to sign up for the same plans. They use the '100%' more payment from the foreigners to support the Singaporeans and the PRs.
  4. *I was quite pissed when I found out that my card is expiring soon and I need to pay twice as much amount of money. Although I will get a premium membership in that sense (I mean, comon.. All foreigners will get it either they want it or not..), but I seriously don't need to borrow 8 books for just 3 weeks!!! Try extending the 3 weeks to 6 weeks.. Then I might give you a thumb's up.
